NEW! We now have a unique, small board perfect for slicing and serving cheese, hors d'oeuvres and anything you like on Thanksgiving. They measure about 8 inches by 10 inches, or just smaller than a sheet of standard letter paper.

Solid wild black cherry wood is one of the finest things growing in our part of the world, and our supplier has given us two types: a "gummy" figured grain that has dark strips of natural resin setting off the grain and a "curly" grain that shows a wavy chatoyance (please specify in the order notes if you prefer one grain type over the other).

Like all cherry, your board will turn a deeper red over time when exposed to ambient light. Cherry is a bit softer than our hard maple and oak, which makes it less appropriate for hard chopping, unless you prefer a softer surface because you're trying to maintain a fine edge on a chef's quality knife.

While some competitors use lumber scraps glued together, we cut our boards form solid pieces of wood right in our Maryland workshop. After our cherry is cut in the region and kiln-dried in Pennsylvania, we cut and plane it before putting the finishing touches on by hand--including organic raw linseed oil and our own board balm.

Your board is guaranteed against flaws in workmanship, design, etc. As always, feel free to contact us with any questions. The cherry boards are thinner and lighter on average than our other boards (less than 1").
