Watch Out for Summer Moisture

Summer is a time of higher humidity in most of our homes, as well as rising concern about sanitation in kitchens and restaurants. In addition to guidance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Treeboard recommends allowing all wooden surfaces to air-dry on all sides as much as possible, allowing moisture to escape and evaporate. Our lumber is professionally kiln dried in northeastern mills, and keeping cutting boards dry means they're less likely to expand and potentially crack or warp. (We don't recommend putting boards into the dishwasher.)
The USDA advises replacing excessively grooved boards with new ones. Luckily, Treeboard's are some of the most durable out there.
