We're pretty picky about what touches our hardwood, and what touches your food too. That's why every product in this collection uses only organic, plant-based ingredients. No petroleum products, no mineral oil, no mystery chemicals. Just pure, food safe cutting-board oil and wax that you'd feel comfortable eating (though we don't recommend it).
Organic Raw Linseed Oil: This natural wood finish penetrates deep into the grain, nourishing the wood from within and sealing oil water. It's pressed from flax seeds and has been used for centuries to protect wood. Unlike some alternatives, raw linseed oil is completely food-safe and actually good for your cutting board.
Organic Carnauba Wax: Sourced from Brazilian palm trees, this plant-based wax creates a protective barrier that repels moisture while giving your wood a subtle, natural sheen. It's the same wax used in food-grade products throughout the industry.
Taking care of your Treeboard pieces is surprisingly simple:
For regular maintenance: Use our board balm (which combines linseed oil and carnauba wax) every few weeks, or whenever the wood starts looking dry. Just rub it in, let it soak for 20 minutes, then wipe off any excess. This combo treatment penetrates and seals in one step.
For deeper protection: Apply organic cutting-board oil occasionally or after any deep cleaning or sanding.
After washing: Always dry your board completely, ideally in open air, and give it a light coat of oil or board balm if it's lost its glossy finish.
While these products are perfect for cutting board maintenance, they work beautifully on any unfinished wood in your home. Use them on wooden spoons, salad bowls, butcher blocks, or even furniture made from natural hardwood. Some folks have even discovered our board balm works wonders as hand moisturizer…but hey, we're a wood company, not doctors!
